other people on Sleep Rough:2010 ![]() You will spend one night experiencing a little of what it’s like being a homeless person. You will also be raising vital money for Peterborough Soup Kitchen, a local charity dedicated to feeding the homeless of this city for the past 26 years. Our aim is to create a ‘very special event’ and for that we need lots of people to support us. You will be among like minded people sharing a worthwhile and memorable experience. We expect all sorts of people to attend this event, right across our local community and beyond. Rough Sleepers The homeless are INVISIBLE. We wish to raise awareness of the issues of the homeless in our city, through this event, in order to change things. Some people who are ‘rough sleeping’ in Peterborough, right now, will be with us at Sleep Rough. Individuals, families and teams Anyone that wishes to join Sleep Rough 2010 can do so as either an individual, a family or as a team (10 people max). Teams can be made up of friends from work, schools, colleges or clubs, for example. Please let us know the other members of the teams when you register. Participants must be 16 years of age or over on the day of the event. Those below 16 years of age must be accompanied by a parent(s) or guardian aged 18 years of age or over on the day of the event. Sponsorship pledge To take part in Sleep Rough we ask is that you raise a minimum sponsorship of £95.00 for Peterborough Soup Kitchen by the date of the event. Sainsbury’s in Bretton Sleep Rough 2010 will be located outside Sainsbury’s in Bretton. Peterborough Soup Kitchen has become Charity of the Year with this store for the second year. The store closes at 10 pm and opens again at 7 am and that is when the event will take place.Sainsbury’s Bretton will be offering all the participants a breakfast in the morning in the Cafe, in the store. We are all going to need it. During the night you will be able to use the soup kitchen van for warm drinks and soup, as many rough sleepers do most nights. Registration To take part in Sleep Rough:2010 just click on the Join Now logo on the right. Please print and complete the form in full, sign and return to the address on the form. (If you cannot print the registration form please contact us on the number below and we will send you one in the post)At registration we ask for £17.00 per individual. This covers our considerable administration costs, postage, event promotion material such as posters, flyers, collection tins, your Sleep Rough 2010 T-shirt and ground sheet (we don’t want you getting wet during the event), on-line updates up to the event date. Business or organisations, Church, Schools and Colleges We expect that people who attend the event will be from all walks of life. Many people and young people will be from local business or organisations, churches, schools and colleges. Once the registration form is in the post expect to receive your event promotion material such as poster, flyers and your own Sleep Rough 2010 T-shirt within 14 days. We will send you an electronic token by e-mail to confirm your registration. This will allow you access to the secure ‘sleepers’ section of the Sleep Rough website. It is here that you will be able to obtain all the information you need about how promoting yourself, both on-line for real and getting sponsorship sorted.
